Shahjehan was born on March 18th, 1938 in Bombay.  Shahjehan's father was Abdullah Kazi and her mother was Zubaida Khatoon Kazi.  Her paternal grandfather is Ghulam Rasool Kazi; her maternal grandfather is Ziauddin Kazi. She had three brothers and a sister, named Aziz, Mazhar, A.Haq and Noorjehan. She has five half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Anwarulhaq, Shamsulhaq (Ali), Izharulhaq, Waheedulhaq (Haji), Noorulhaq, Khursheed Ara, Shamsunisa and Akhtarunisa.
